These two hotels were the work of Lew Tuller, an entrepreneur who enjoyed success thanks to his hotel chain and to residences that he built in and around Detroit.
Park Avenue was one of classiest streets of downtown. In the 50s, the beltway cut it in half, isolating the northern part. Gradually, hotels withered away.
